We placed an Insight Field in a Jira Software Project for users to select a value from the Insight Field as read only.
As an administrator, I can select a value, however the user is not able to dropdown the field to select a value.
We set the permission in the Insight Object for the user role but could not get it to work.
What are the permissions that a user needs. It is not obvious in the documentation.
Hi @NickN,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
In order to see Insight for JSM data on a JSW project the user has to have a JSM license. The old Insight used to support it so anyone with access to Jira could see it, but the new Insight limits that to only JSM projects.
Thank you @Mikael Sandberg . That explains it.
JSM licenses are much more expensive than JSW. It does not make sense to get over 200 users to see data on insight to have JSM licenses.
Thank you

Hi @NickN,
Thank you for your question. Please note that Jira Software Data Center users can continue to use your Assets as usual until your subscription period ends regardless of what version of Jira Software Data Center you are on.
Once the subscription expires, if you’re on Jira Software Data Center version 8.15 or higher, you’ll need a Data Center subscription to Jira Service Management (minimum tier) on the same instance to use the Assets with Jira Software Data Center.
After February 15, 2023, you will need a subscription to Jira Service Management on the same instance to ensure JSW users can continue to use Assets.
Please see the licensing FAQs for further information.
Kind regards,
Charlie
