Can a post function create a Task instead of a SubTask?

Stephen Cowden May 8, 2020

Hello, I've setup my JIRA project and when an EPIC gets generated I would like to use the post functions to generate some Tasks. Currently it only generates Subtasks.

The main reason on the KanBan board, when it's sorted by Epic it does not display the SubTasks on the board correctly. It displays Tasks that are assigned to Epic correctly but displays the SubTasks as unassigned. If I can create Task using the post functions then is it possible to display the SubTasks correctly on the KanBan Board?

Yes, there are post-functions which can create issues at the parent level, not just sub-tasks of the current task.

You'll need to use one of the apps in the marketplace to provide it though (or write one).  Maybe have a look at the scripting or automation apps.
