Can a team-managed project use a company-managed work flow?

My impression is no (also I think that is true for using a company-managed issue type within a team-managed project) -- you can't really do it. I could create the same but it'd be creating a new actual resource in the backend for both issue type and work flow in each team-managed project? Is that understanding correct?

You are correct, the answer is no, team-managed projects cannot use workflows from a company-managed one. TMPs should be seen as its own island with no connections to the outside world.

...except that in Team Managed projects you can use Custom Fields (with global context) that have been set up for use in Company Managed project. ;-)
