It also depends on what kind of Jira you use. If you have Jira Service Management or Jira Cloud, you can use Automation. If you have a Jira Server, you will need to use Scriptrunner and Jobs, for example. So it depends more on the exact Use Case.

Ah, in this case I can recommend using the Script Runner addon, which allows you to use so-called Jobs. If you don't have an addon in Jira that extends Workflow, you won't be able to do the automation.
