Can a workflow transition be done if an issue is removed from a sprint?

Is it possible that when an issue is removed form a sprint in Jira agile, that it can be transitioned in the workflow? We have a project administrator that is looking for that kind of functionality.

Hey Ryan,

yes it is.
Install ScriptRunner Plugin (free)
And use the scripted post functions.
There you set a post function that do what ever you want IF the sprint field of that issue is set to the value "null".
F.e. sprint field was changed to null - the status of this issue is set to open again.
