Can dependencies across multiple JIRA cloud projects be visualized using Advanced Roadmaps?

Heather Merk March 9, 2022

I have set up a plan/advanced roadmap that includes multiple JIRA projects. I have dependencies that cut across multiple JIRA projects and these dependencies are identified at the JIRA epic level. Screenshot 2022-03-09 151707.png

When I look in advanced roadmaps, I can see the dependencies within one project, but I can't see dependencies between projects.

Can I use advanced roadmaps to visualize dependencies across projects by adjusting settings? Is there an add-in that can do this?

I have looked at dependency mapper for JIRA and link map, but it isn't clear to me whether these can actually visualize dependencies across JIRA projects.

Hi @Heather Merk,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The basic view will only show dependency lines between issues in the same project. If you select the Dependency management view you will see the lines across multiple projects

Hi @Mikael Sandberg ,

Good to know this is possible and I am likely doing something wrong :)

I'm in the dependency mapping view, but am somehow still not seeing the dependencies across projects. I would expect to see a dependency between HI-102 and HTP-352, but am not seeing HTP-352 in the dependency mapping view. I am only seeing dependencies within the HI project.

What link type are you using between HTP-352 and the others? By default the Advanced roadmap will only use the Blocks link type, but you can always changed that and add more link types as well.

The link type is HTP-352 blocks HI-102 and HI-453. I was looking at Configuring Advanced Roadmaps and I'll follow up with my administrator. I'm wondering if they have changed the link type.
