We are looking at the Timeline in Jira Board and one of the epics has an error and does not seem to show the correct start and end date

the error gets to be: "Child issues begin and end outside the dates set for this parent issue"

And when checking Big Picture the timeline is correct

so it seems the issue is only with Jira...

Thank you

Hi @Marius Florea ,

Can you maybe share if you're using project timeline or Jira Plans when looking at the timeline/gantt?

  • In project timeline system fields Start date and Due dates are used (and cannot be changed)
  • In Jira Plan, you can configure which date fields will be used as start and end dates (it's usually the same as in project timeline)
  • As for BigPicture, I believe it uses fields such as Start date and End date for start and end dates to display items on gantt (you should be able to see this if you would navigate to App settings > General (under 'App configuration')

All of that being said, I'd recommend which fields are used on Jira Plans (if using that) and which are being used in BigPicture. That's what may cause differences between those different views.

Cheers,
Tobi
