Can i use an evaluation licence for an add-on on my Production instance of JIRA server?
from experience, you can normally only use them with test instances of systems.
Cheers
Chris
Hi Chris,
you can use them on any system you want. For test instances, you can usually get a developer license from the plugin developer (if you bought a regular license).
But I wouldn't do anything productive while evaluating a plugin. The purpose of the evaluation license is for testing, if the plugin suits your needs and therefore, you will make a lot of changes and try things out during the evaluation period on your system. Usually this doesn't fit with the needs of a production system.
But why evaluation license on Production ?

Sorry, poorly worded title. The Jira instance has a full production licence. The evaluation licence is for an add on.
Does that make sense?

Like Thomas highlighted - JIRA and all add-ons come with developers licenses , you can use evaluation in Prod, no issues but try it on your Dev Instances if you are using evaluation just for testing purpose.
After you buy one, you can always replace evaluation with dev license.

Yep. I normally evaluate plugins in a Dev environment. Just need to try this one in production as config is slightly different between Dev and production.
