Can't load assignee list for story category ticket

Shawn August 12, 2019

Hi All,

I created a story ticket in JIRA software project, but I can't load the assignee list. I only can assign the ticket to me. I checked that all people are in the assignable field. The bug category ticket is able to show the assignee list. How to fix it?

Hi @Shawn

Have you checked the workflow for any conditions & validators?

HI @Shawn

You'll need to go to each workflow and click on the pencil. Then click on the transitions to see if there is are any Conditions or Validators on the right hand side.

See image below:

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Shawn August 26, 2019

@Brittany Wispell  Hi Brittany, I didn't see any condition or validator. Can you do remote support? I struggled with this issue for a long time.

In the 'People' section of your project, is there anyone associated to the project? Example below.

You can also use the 'Permission Helper' to see why you cannot add someone as an assignee to a ticket. I have boxed it in Red.

@Brittany Wispell

1. There are more than 20 people associated with this project.

2. When I use permisson helper, it shows that "** has the 'Assignable User' permission"; however, when I go to the Story type ticket, I still only can assign that ticket to myself.

Is there any way to get remote support. Using community to communiate is too slow.

Hi @Shawn

While this forum of support is available, it does not replace other support offerings (Such as Select, Premier or Partner/Vendor support).

https://confluence.atlassian.com/support/atlassian-support-offerings-193299636.html

You can look into the options above for more support.

Do you see any issue security set up within the project?

Have you checked to see if YOU have the Assign Issue permission?

Shawn September 3, 2019

Yes. We have about twenty people assigned to these two groups.

Do YOU have the Assign Issue permissions?

Shawn September 3, 2019

Yes. I have the Assign Issue Permissons. When creating other types of tickets like bug, I can assign them to other people.

Shawn September 3, 2019

@Brittany Wispell

Additionally, other poeple also can't assign the careated or reviewed story tickets to other people.

Hi @Shawn

What was the solution?

In case anyone has the same issue in the future they will be able to look here for the solution.

Thanks!
Brittany

@Brittany Wispell

Here is the answer:

You have a screen on this project related to the operation Edit Issue which doesn't have the Assignee field on it and it's preventing users from changing the assignee field. This behavior is being tracked internally so we can fix it as soon as possible.

Ah! The one place we didn't look.
In server the field is not even clickable if it is not on the edit screen.

Thanks!

Shawn September 5, 2019

@Brittany Wispell

Hi Brittany, can take a screenshot how to change this? I went to Edit Issue and I didn't find any Assingee field associated with Edit Issue.

Hi @Shawn

You'll need to add the Assignee to the screen.

Go to Screens: Screen Shot 2019-09-05 at 6.01.47 PM.png

Select the blue link by 'Edit Issue'Screen Shot 2019-09-05 at 6.01.56 PM.pngThen at the bottom of the page you'll see an option for a drop down. Type 'Assignee' and Enter or Add. Screen Shot 2019-09-05 at 6.02.27 PM.png
