We just started using Jira Service Management. Our process is that if a ticket is logged that required Development support, we clone it into the Software Dev Project so that the Dev team can address it. But I need to pass the 'Organization' field into the ticket as our different clients have different config (and sometimes versions). But when I try to use the organization field in Software Dev I get an error 'Search Failed. Try Reloading the Issue'. It is impossible to actually populate the field... When I clone tickets that have an organization in them, the field does not populate.
That field is not currently available in Software projects. Refer to
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-66848
The issue is old, from 2017, and does not have many votes compared to other issues in the backlog.
A vendor mentions an app in the Comments which might help you.
Alternately, you could implement something (code, maybe automation, or maybe a Post Function) that could update another Software project custom field (of your making) with the info from the Service Management Organization field.
Thanks Trudy. It does feel like the Organizations functionality in Service Management loud was woefully underthought / underdelivered... you can't sort on it, can't use it in the dashboards, can't use it in the other modules. For us, the concept of organizations in the Service Desk portal is very important... but its very hard to work with the functionality as it has been delivered.
