Can the Fields in Jira make Read only?

Hello Team,

Can we make the existing custom fields in Jira read only field?

Defect Status - Select List (single choice)

Defect Number - Text Field (single line)

These two fields should be read only field the users should not modify the values in the field

Please help me in resolving this issue

Remove them from the edit screen.

Hi @M Homeswara Reddy ,

You can do that. Create one screen with all fields you need including this two. Create another screen without that two fields.

Then create a screen scheme and add the first screen to the create and view action, the second one to the edit action.

The create an issue type screen scheme and add the screen scheme to the issue types where you want to use that screen scheme.

This scheme can then be selected for a project. 

With this configuration, you can set the fields initially when creating the issue and can not modify it afterwards.
