Can the Jira Agile main board interface be modified?

I'm wanting to a add a "Description" field that appears directly below the board name in Jira Agile. Currently, in the Configuration - General screen, there's only a field for Board Name but no Description. Is this something that can be added as a custom feature in a self-hosted instance of Jira Agile?

Hi Tyler,

It is possible with custom code and modifications of existing code. Upgrade will break this changes so every time you upgrade the same/similar changes should be applied again.

Far away from ideal but still an option.
