Is there a way that we can run a report by Role rather than by an individual user in the User Workload Report. For example, run this report by QA or BA etc?
If not, is there anyway in JIRA that this could be done as a report?

This is currently not possible to achieve, at least out of the box. You could possibly achieve that using an app from the marketplace.
