Can we create entity not based on type given by atlassian connect documents?

Hi

We have developed a Jira server plugin where we used active objects for storing our data into Jira. Now we are developing the same plugin for Jira cloud. But in Jira cloud, I am not getting any APIs for active objects. But I got entity here. But I can not create entity independently like we can create active objects in Jira server.
