Can we log work in story points?

Is there a way to log partial story point value of an item? In a similar way to the time/log work?

Having 'concerns' from above regarding the granular nature of a given sprint report. With the story points only being realized when issue is 'Done'.

Should this be more of a case that we should break our issues into smaller items, that can progress faster through the columns rather than 'fiddle' the system?

PS: I've tried 'duplicating' the story points as time estimates. While this produces the ability to show 'partial' time/story point burn down, the axis on the reports then contain 'time' information rather than story point info.
