Can we make the summary & the description as read only field once it passes a certain state

I'm new in Jira & I got the following request:

As soon as an issue of type bug is moved to an IN PROGRESS state or passed a TO DO state, can we prevent someone from modifying the Summary & the description? Either by setting those 2 fields as read only or by only authorize the reporter to modify these fields?

Hi @Manon Bourgeois you can't do it easily by some simple configuration but you can

1. Remove Summary and Description from Edit issue screen
2. Create new transition in your workflow "Edit Summary/Description"
   1. create new screen with Summary and Description fields
   2. set screen for newly created transition
   3. set condition to display this transition only in TODO status

Are you working with a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project?

There is not a specific "feature" to simply implement something like this, but there is a workaround that can be done with Workflows if you are using a Company Managed project. Take a look at this KB. It is for Jira Server, but will also work on Jira Cloud.

ooops I forgot to mention to you that I'm working with Company managed project. ;-)
