I don't want to recreate the email, I just want to send what Jira already send to another group if certain conditions apply. I can set post-functions that evaluate as true if a certain custom field is set and the assignee has changed. I would like it to send the default jira email that is sent to the new assignee also to another group. Is there a way that this can be defined in script runner?
I have looked all over the internet but have not found an answer.
Thanks
Diane

It looks like the email templates Jira uses are Velocity templates which are not supported by the "Send a Custom Email" script.
I will raise a feature request for a way to allow users to create an email template which they can use and re-use whenever they want to within the "Send a Custom Email" built in script.

It does not look like connecting a new event to the issue updated template is going to send an exact copy of the default Jira email. I did notice that the fields that were missing are portfolio related so I wonder if that has anything to do with them not showing in the default Issue Updated template that you can connect a custom event to.
It looks like the best option currently is try and build an "Email Template" that uses the issue change history to detect the fields that changed and then put them into the "Email template" body.
