I cannot create story in backlog. I see only Epic, Bug and Task. Under Project settings/Issue types I see following: Story, Bug, Epic, Task, Sub-Task. Project type is company-managed software.
Please check the following
check your board filter query you might have only selected Epic , bug and task and subtask

@Andrzej Kozlowski usually epic should not appear in this drop down

True, When I create Team-managed software I do not see epic and have story. But for company-managed software project I see such settings.

did you tried global create button to create story in this project backlog
Also please check your story create screens if any important field is missing Like summary

Looks like I can create story globally or from roadmap board and nothing is missing. We migrated from Azure DevOps and person responsible for migration told me that he switchedepics with stories to keep links. This probably explains this weird behaviour
