I am a JIRA Administrator and Project Lead. When I try to delete a story or a task I get the following error message:
It seems that you have tried to perform an operation which you are not permitted to perform.
If you think this message is wrong, please contact your Jira administrators.
Obviously, I am the JIRA Administrator as I set up the Atlassian account. I also validated that I am the site admin. Any suggestions?
Administrator rights grant you administration.
The right to delete an issue is a project permission, not an administration one, so my guess is that the permissions for the project do not allow you to delete. As an admin, you can change that.
(This is not a bad thing - delete in Jira is very very permanent, and you'll find a lot of people here discovering that allowing it is a bad thing, with hard merges, restoring from tapes and so-on. Something you should think carefully about before doing, and more importantly, who you let do it!)
I found the answer to this on another topic:
