Change Issue Type in Project: Child Issue to Subtask

There was a project created before my time at the company and it's labeled "Social Media". This project creates issues as "Tasks" but only offers "Child Issues" (see below) instead of "Subtasks". I don't want to convert them one by one, I want the option of a "Subtask" to EXIST in every "Task" I create. How do I do this?

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The project you are using is a team-managed project and in those projects sub tasks are known as child issues and that is why you see that button. If you compare it to a company-managed project you will see that the button refers to sub-task instead. There is no setting in the project that can change this.
