Hi everyone👋

could someone tell me how to change auto naming. Whenever I create new epic, task, story, etc Jira automatically assigns numbers.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Jira does not have any "auto naming" function, so I'm not sure what you are asking about.

It does allocate unique IDs (issue keys) to issues though.  It has to, a unique id is a necessary function of an issue tracker, they are not useful without one.  Is that what you're asking about?

@BenWade this number is unique identifier for each ticket created, this functionality cannot be disabled or turned off.

Hi @BenWade ,

the "auto naming' is based on the Project Key.

If the project key of your project is ABC, then all your issue keys will have ABC as a prefix.

Each time you create a new issue, it will have an issue key like ABC-1, ABC-2, ABC-3, etc.

You cannot change the sequence of the numbers though, that is indeed done automatically.

Even when you delete issue ABC-2, there will never be another issue with issue key ABC-2.
