Hi.
I've been mainly using Timeline view for managing issues. I used to select a task from issue list and detailed view of the issue appears on a split view on the right side. Then, if I click a sub-task from that split view, it used to show detailed view of the sub-task I clicked.
However, from one day this week, it seems some changes has affected Jira Cloud UI/UX. If I click sub-task from the split view window, it opens a new tab in my browser instead of showing it on the split view. This is very annoying and I really hope to use as what I've been using.
Is there any way I could revert to how it used to be? or change some settings if I can
Hi @노제_김윤성_
I understand that you are expecting to be able to see the link to a subtask on a timeline to open in the right side of the timeline, much like an epic or story would. While I was able to replicate the behavior here, I haven't found any other reports of this as a change to the expected behavior though recently. In researching this I did come across https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-91572
While this is not exactly the same thing you describe, it does involve why subtasks do not appear within the timeline view in general. Also there is an updated explanation in regards to that on the JRACLOUD feature request:
We are reviewing this request at the moment and will provide a follow-up in a few months time. We understand that especially with the recent release of subtasks support in backlog, there is a higher interest for subtasks to be made visible in Timeline.
At the time being, as some of you have noted in the comments below - you can use Timeline inside Plans for this purpose. Plans can take a single or multiple projects, boards, and filters as their issue sources and display the relevant Jira issues, including subtasks.
Plans are available for Jira Premium (https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/premium) . You can learn more about Plans here: https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/guides/advanced-roadmaps/overview#what-is-advanced-planning . Just head over to the “Plans” menu item on top navigation in Jira to give it a go.
From this I expect that this behavior in the timeline is by design. However if this answer doesn't satisfy, I would recommend reaching out to your site-admin and request that they create a support case on your behalf in https://support.atlassian.com/contact/ With a support case and more details about your environment our support team might be better able to offer alternative resolutions.
Regards,
Andy
Hi @Andy Heinzer ,
I've checked other ticket you shared and it seemed as interesting feature but I assume it doesn't quite fit the function I was looking for.
I'm confused here because I was using as I described for over one year until last month. And since you've checked that there was no similar reports recently, I would go out to check if some preferences were changed by my site-admin.
I'll let you know if there is an update with this issue.
Thanks for support
Also thanks to @Tomislav Tobijas for sharing issue.

Hi @노제_김윤성_ ,
I've just checked (and we're using a new navigation experience), and yes - it seems that when you try to open sub-task from the side panel on the Timeline view, it will open a new web address and not the sub-task in the side panel itself.
However, I don't recall seeing sub-tasks open directly in the side panel (but again, I didn't use this feature that often).
I'll ask someone from Atlassian to maybe take a look and see if they have made any backend changes regarding that (to check when it was released/updated). However, I don't believe you'll be able to configure this on your site or user profile.
Cheers,
Tobi
