Changing Project Key, what will it exactly affect?

I am changing a project key for a team member? However, will this change all open and closed tickets in current and previous sprints? 

The documentation doesn't really dive into all aspects of the change. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me.

It will basically just cause all of the old links to re-direct to the new ones. Fairly stable process, though I always recommend you test changes like this in staging.

Caveat: The old project key remains reserved.
