Changing assignee when a task hits a certain point in workflow

smaction June 26, 2018

I have tasks divided into 5 sub-tasks automatically on creation.  We have one key user who assigns all unassigned tasks (and sub tasks).  The problem comes with the review step in the workflow.  Regular users cannot change assignee or watchers.  What do I do to get task assigned to reviewer (or at least the reviewer added to watchers)?

Hi,

You can edit the workflow and adding a post-function that sets the user who you want as the assignee.

See the screenshot:

For that you want you have a few options:

  • Assign to Current User assigns the issue to the one who transitioned the issue.
  • Assign to Reporter assigns the issu to the user who reported (created) the issue.
  • Update Issue Field lets you to set the "Assignee" field to the one who you want to.

Also, if the subtasks that you refeer use the "Default" workflow, you can create another one that will be specific for subtasks and associate it with your project(s).

Hope it helps!

Regards,
Marcos
