Changing the Project Key

If I change the 'Project Key' of a project, does that change the Key for every issue that was ever in the Project? Or does it only change the Key on issues from there on out?

Thanks for any advice.

The prefix will change for all issues.
abc-1234 becomes xyz-1234

All issues currently in the project will have their key changed (as the key is always "project I am in" - "sequence")

If however, an issue has been moved beofre the project key change, the history will report the old key of the old project, not the new.

Hi @Foxcliffe Hickory

As already been said this will change keys for all issues on that project but you can still use old keys in searches/filters. Until you delete this projects you will not be able to reuse old key (for example you will not be able to create new project with your old key).

Please check the doc here

Best regards,

Piotr
