Changing the name of the custom field

Can we change the name of the custom field , if one custom field is shared by one issue screen can we use the same custom field for the same screen for multiple times. if yes how can we do that .

You can not use same custom field multiple times for a single screen.

I can see some reason for having the same field shown when the screen is broken up by tabs, but in reality, that confuses people as they don't grasp that changing it in one tab changes it in the other as well.

Having the same field on a screen more than once is pointless, messy and confusing.
