Recently we have migrated 7000 tickets from another instance using CSV importer. Now the users can see all issues under backlog. they have started sprints and want to clear the backlog for old tickets. how can we do this ?

I think you need to clarify a bit about old tickets. Are these tickets have been done or were these all just created or inflight while this migration took place?
You can configure your board based on the criteria you want so that it shows limited no of items.
