I'm trying to give my client access to see only one specific project and not others.

When they login they are able to see all projects.

I've tried a couple different things:

  • Add people - Added as "Viewer" to the project, but can still see other projects.
  • Add people - Created a "New Role" to the project, but can still see other projects.
  • Teams - Tried to create a team and added them as a team to a specific project and yet they can still see other teams.

Help!!!

Hello @Kathy Jones

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Are you trying to allow the person to see a Jira Software project, a Jira Business project, or a Jira Service Management project?

Do you use Company Managed projects and Team Managed projects on your system?

There are two major steps to giving a user the option to see just one project in your instance (when you are not talking about using Jira Service Management and granting customer-only access).

1. Give the user access to see the one project.

2. Make sure all other projects are set up so that the user is not a member of a group or role that has access to see those projects.

#2 is the step you need to do.

If you are using Company Managed projects you have to examine the Permission Schemes used for all the other projects, and make sure that

- the Browse Projects permission is not granted to "Any logged in user"

- the one user is not a member of any group or role to whom that permission has been granted for those other projects.

If you also have Team Managed projects in your instance then you have to look at the Access level of each of those projects. If the access level is set to Open or Limited, then any logged in user will be able to see the project. Such projects have to have their Access level set to Private, and the people who do need access then have to be explicitly granted access.

The above applies when the user has been granted a Jira User license.

Hello @Kathy Jones ,

Welcome to Atlassian Community.

You can configure portal access in jsm project. You can see the next guide to see how to configure restricted jsm project :
