Cloned Case Log

Jeremy Banks May 26, 2017

When a case is cloned, the new case is linked to the old case. Is this documented in a data field anywhere? I want to create a filter and see the original case it was tied to.

No, the link created is the "documentation" that the issue was cloned.  You can see "links" in the issue navigator (search results), which would show up the clone link.

Thanks Nic! We will be using an API to Tableau eventually and want to know when cases are linked. It makes it difficult if the only way to tell a case was cloned is by clicking into the case. Can you think of a way around this? Maybe a way to set a field?

You could write a listener that picks up the cloning/create event, checks for the clone link is in the event and tags something into a field.  Or your Tableau connector could look for the link itself?
