Combining boards into one when you are not a Jira admin

teresa mckinnon May 22, 2025

Hello all,

Our IT department is the only department with Jira Admin status. Our project team would like to be able to combine their individual projects into a single board view, can we do this without a company managed project?

Hi @teresa mckinnon,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

No, if you do not have a company-managed project you cannot create a board that includes multiple projects. Boards in team-managed project can only see work items within that project.

Thank you, Mikael. I was hoping you might have a workaround or another option to solve this issue. Looks like I will be creating a few IT tickets.

Hello @teresa mckinnon

Technically you can combine the information from multiple projects to display in one board. You do that be creating and saving a Filter that selects the issues from all the projects. Then you create a new board from the Saved Filter.

However, that creates a board using the same functionality as used by the Company Managed project boards. That functionality looks a bit different than the functionality of the boards that are built into the Team Managed project.

You might want to give it a try, though, to see if it would meet your needs.

Thank you, I'll try that and see how it runs for the team!
