Company managed projects, trying to get to the bottom of story points, and story point estimates

I looked at my JIRA cloud configuration, I do not see the enable estimation as in the documentation?

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/enable-estimation/

The next-gen projects we have are company managed.  Our issues have story points, and story point estimates.

We are using story point estimates to capture our estimation for Epics to aid quarterly planning with product.

When we break epics into stories we complete the story point field, and roll up all the story points to the the story point field on the epic.

I believe estimation is enabled though since I see Time Tracking, Original Estimate fields.

Hi @Neil Wills

You either work on a team managed project (next-gen), or a company managed project (classic). You can't work on a next-gen company managed project. First we have to clarify the project to which you are working on.

The link you sent is for TM projects. Inside them you will find the story points estimate field. In CM projects both fields can be used (story points and story points estimate), but only story points can be used in reports. You can learn more about it here.

Story points and story point estimates are available.

We used story point estimates for estimation with the engineering leads, these high level estimates help plan which epics we might prioritize.

Ok! But if you want to use the built in reports, then you have to use story points, and not story points estimate.
