Configure User For Specific Project

I am using a Jira Classic project.  How do I configure a user for just that one project?

I have create a role and a group but not sure on the next steps.

If you have Jira system administrator privileges, it is recommended to check the project's permission scheme first, check if the permissions and your configured roles match.
