Hi @Simon Jackson 👋
You're right — Jira’s native Sprint Insights don’t always work well when your team uses sub-tasks, since those aren’t always counted in velocity or progress calculations unless configured very specifically.
If the insight report isn’t updating correctly, especially with subtasks, you might find it limiting when trying to get an accurate view of sprint health.
✅ Alternative: Sprint Report in Time In Status
As a workaround, you can use the Sprint Report from Time In Status to get deeper and more reliable metrics — and yes, it supports subtasks as well.
📊 Sprint Dashboard includes:
Velocity trends by sprint
Completed vs. committed story points
Workload breakdown by team member
Scope changes (added/removed items)
Completion rates, time logged, and flagged issues
Filter support for sub-tasks and custom issue types
App developed by my team.

Hi @Simon Jackson,
As far as I know, reports, gadgets, insights, etc. in Jira do not take into account the sub-tasks.
A solution would be to search on Atlassian Marketplace for a plugin that is capable to do this.
In case you want to try a plugin, our Great Gadgets app offers a Sprint Burndown Burnup Chart gadget that can include the sub-tasks. It support any type of estimates (by story points, time estimates, custom field, etc).
On its Data tab, this gadget can display a Sprint report that will list also the subtasks:
Besides this gadget, the app offers also Release Burndown Burnup Chart gadget and Team Velocity gadget that support subtasks. So you will have the full insights needed for your Scrum projects.
