Hello,
Please help me understand how to configure an SSL certificate. Can we use openssl generated certificates which has root CA, intermediate CA. Or Should we have java key store(jks) certificate only ?
Hello,
Using Jira with an SSL cert allows you to have a few options when setting this up. While you may use your OpenSSL cert, ensure your root and intermediate CAs are trusted across many platforms. There are some issues with LetsEncrypt for example where the mobile app and some browsers don’t trust the certificate.
In the past, I have used Java Key Stores with success, along with using them with cert providers such as DigiCert, and GoDaddy. There is documentation to cover setting up your SSL certificate which may be found at Running Jira applications over SSL or HTTPS along with Connecting to SSL services. DigiCert has a guide on how to generate your CSR and import your cert into a keystore as well, this guide may be found at CSR Creation :: Java Keytool SSL Certificates and SSL Certificate Installation:: Java Web Servers.
I hope this proves helpful and you’re able to start using your SSL cert soon!
Regards,
Stephen Sifers
