Hi all,
I'm trying to make Jira work for me ;-) I have multiple projects running and i need an aggregated view on these. Found a way to do this in creating a board where all the Issues, Epics and backlogs are included.
As this is a software application i also want to start using Releases and versions. Is there a way to link a version and an Epic (in the same project) and where the Issues inherit this link automagically?
Same way how i can connect my Issues with Epics
Hi Tristan,
To link Versions to Issues (Stories or Epics), you can use the Fix Version field. However, the field does not get propagated to the child issues, for example, once you have set the Fix Version of an Epic to Version 1, the Stories under the Epic does not get the same value - for this, you might need to have an automation or script to update the issues under the Epic once we update the Epic's Fix Version.
Best Regards,
Mogavenasan
Hi Mogavenasan,
Thanks for your reply and apologies for my delay in response.
Personally i don't understand the logic why you would not propagate this information to child object and you need to write a script for these kind of things, but that's me talking, guess there is a good reason for these decisions.
