Conversion of days to hours within Jira Dashboard reports

Carson February 8, 2024

Hi,

I am on a company managed DataCenter account and have noticed a few inconsistencies in my Dashboard reports for time tracking and was wondering if there is an explanation for this and more importantly a fix.

My team and I are using Jira to track hours logged towards specific longer-term projects that we are working on and are trying to generate some sort of meaningful reports. I have already explored the Time Tracking Report as well as the user workload report and other official reports offered within Jira and this is not exactly what we are looking for.

In the Dashboards, we have found a few different views that we liked including the filter results gadget where you can specify the issue type, and a whole slue of other fields as well. We were mainly using this as a way to see the sum of the original estimate, remaining estimate, and the time spent fields but noticed that some of these were reporting in terms of hours and others were reporting in terms of days.

Was wondering if anyone has encountered this issue before or if this is a first and didn't know if someone knew of a way to do a conversion before it was sent to the dashboard like this. We have talked with our Jira administrators and the default setting is unfortunately set to days so that is something that we cannot change, but we were just wondering if the default is days, why are there any times tracked in hours showing up at all?

Thanks in advance.
