We have been running Jira using an installation on one network and want to move it to another network. This question is about migration.
Can a Jira 8.5.1 instance running under a Postgres database on a Windows server be converted/migrated to a to Linux 7.x platform on an Oracle 12c database?
Hi @Max ,
yes it's possible to migrate to another server with a different OS and database, you can simply do a XML backup, install a new Jira 8.5.1 on your linux server, and after the database setup you can choose to import your XML data.
You can have a look at the documentation for detailed steps : https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/migrating-jira-applications-to-another-server-938846962.html
Let me know if this helps,

Hi Max,
We're running the same Jira version (almost, 8.5.3) - however, we're migrationg *from* Oracle, to SQL Server. It would be interesting anyway, to know how the process of moving Jira to a different database platform was for your Jira instance. Was it a smooth transition, or did you hit upon a showstopper?
Cheers, Espen
