Copy Value of (Select List - Single Choice) custom field from Parent to sub-task on issue creation.

I am trying to write a script listener that will fire on 'issue created' and automatically copy the value of my custom field to the same field in a sub-task.

This seems simple but I cannot find any documentation on how this would look. 

I was also unable to find anything that matched my specific problem in the Atlassian community boards.
