Copy the start date and due date from first and last subtasks to parent item

Adriana Almeida da Cruz May 11, 2023

Is that possible to copy the start date from first subtask to starde date of parent item?

I would like the parent item generate automatically the work start date, or the estimated start date of the first subtask, and also the work completion date, or the estimated due date recorded of the last subtask.

It is possible?

Hello @Adriana Almeida da Cruz

How do you determine the "first" and "last" subtask?

Would you consider the first subtask to be the one with the earliest non-blank start date?

And would the last subtask be the one with the latest non-blank end date?

If Yes, then take a look at this post.

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-discussions/Set-Epic-Start-and-Due-Date-to-earliest-latest-Child-Dates/m-p/2353100

The post talks about Epics and Child Issues rather than issues and subtasks, but it is conceptually similar. The implementation details would have to be a bit different (the For and Lookup Issue actions) to account for the different issues in your case.
