Could not find driver with class name: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver

hongyan999 October 7, 2020 edited

Hello, I am trying to set up Jira to use MySQL5.7, but keeps getting this error about not able to find the driver. I am not a novice IT professional and followed the instruction and downloaded and copied the driver into the lib folder under the Jira installation. I have tried all the things the other similar posts suggested, including restart the Jira server, checked to makes sure that there is no permission issue for the jar and its parent folders but still getting this error. The log file also shows the error but did not tell me where it was trying to locate the driver and failed. What else I should try next to fix this?

It turns out that I had an earlier installation of JIRA which was installed on C drive, but the new is on D drive. Dropped the driver to the right location, and it worked.
