I am looking to set up a timer that will initiate when a stories sub task is moved through the different status sections? Is there any thing out there to assist with this?
Hi @Daniel Egan ,
As an alternative, you can use Status Time add-on. It generates status time reports based on your working calendar.
If you are looking for a free solution, you can try Status Time Free.
Hi @Daniel Egan -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
What do you mean by a "timer"?
(1) If you just need to know how long an issue has been in a current status, there is a built-in feature to classic boards: Days in Column. You may learn about how to enable that feature here:
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/customize-cards/
(2) If you instead need to remember time measurement over time, by status (e.g. how long was I in status <X>) you would need to explore other options:
(3) If you want a running clock of time in a status, somehow updating live on the page, you would need to investigate if there are any marketplace add-ons for this. (That seems a bit excessive to me for work item management.)
Best regards,
Bill

Hi @Daniel Egan
You can also consider other solutions from the Atlassian marketplace:
Time Between Statuses - lets you set start and stop statuses for time tracking.
SLA Time and Report - allows set SLA timer for issues from any project. For start/stop conditions, you can select statuses and other issue fields. Using it, you can set time goals and automate actions for overdue issues (notification, priority change, etc.)
Time in status for Jira cloud - automatically shows time each issue spends in each status (including historical data, before the app was installed).
My team creates all these apps, so I will be happy to help you if you have questions.
I hope you will find the best solution for you.

Hi Zoryana.
We have been using your app to track the time sub stories are in flight. We are happy so far and it does almost every thing we want, could you advise only some thing for me though:
I have set the app up to inform all the users regarding time alert warning how ever the users I have added are not receiving notifications but I am? is there a setting I have missed some where? Example is that I receive a warning email when arriving to the different thresholds, but my team does not receive this email notification. We have all been added as members who require notifications.

Hi @Daniel Egan ,
For an SLA timer that counts down to a target, you can use Time to SLA.
You can set up to start it when the subtask moved to a specific status and end it when the sub-task is Resolved. You also need to set up a goal or a negotiation date, set up a JQL condition as issuetype="Sub-task", and you're done!
Time to SLA will show the start/end/target date and remaining/elapsed durations on the issues and you can generate reports for further analysis.
Let me know if you have further questions.
Regards,
Gökçe
