Hello,
Our project tasks are 80% always the same. So, my question is - Hence, I was considering creating a custom JIRA Project Template. The template will have the pre-defined set of tasks which we always have to perform. So, for any new project, we would create a JIRA project based on this template. The project should automatically include the tasks from the template. The PRoject Manager can then add any further customer specific tasks here.
How can this be achieved in JIRA
Thank you for your support
Greetings
You can create a 'template project' and then when creating other projects you can use that 'template' as the basis for the new project using the Advanced funciton. Now, this won't copy everything (depending on how you define everything) but it will assume schemes, workflows, issuetypes, etc. Note that this only works for Classic projects not Next-gen.
If you need to go beyond this consider an addon like deep-clone-for-jira . Please note that I am not affiliated w/ this app nor do I use it. I only suggest as I have seen others using and having good success.
Thanks Jack. Much appreciated. I assume in this case (as you put the words template project in quotes) that it is not actually possible to create our own custom templates. But instead create a project with all my tasks and use it as a "template". Thanks for pointing out Deep-Clone. I saw this in some other threads. If it clones the tasks from the "template" into a new project, that should help a lot

Correct. There isn’t anything officially called a template in Jira except for the ones that Atlassian provides when creating a project.

It's indeed possible to bulk clone and move template tasks from one project to another with Deep Clone for Jira. Don't hesitate to get in touch with our support if you have questions or feedback about our app, @Rajesh Hosali .
