I'd like to create a Dashboard with a view of tickets, with a Drop down in which we can filter the dasboard results for different customers.
Its appears that this is not possible, however is there a tool in which i could filter results.

The only workaround I have is to copy the dashboard and associated filters - which is far from ideal. I'll be watching this ticket to see if there is a more elegant solution out there. I've added the atlassian-marketplace tag as the solution may be found there.
