Can someone help me understand how to create a new project that looks exactly like a current project but isn't linked/connected whatsoever? I keep thinking I'm doing it correctly, but someone, my 2 projects are showing interconnected. These are 2 projects with 2 totally different teams. When I create the copy, alllllll the tickets from the original board show in the copy. Please help!

How are you creating the new project? If you click on Projects > Create projects and follow the on screen instructions, on the screen it asks for project details you have the option to share settings with an existing project. This will set up the new project the same way as the existing one without copying any issues over.

Hello @Samantha Bernis

What is you definition of "looks exactly like a current project"?

Are you working with Team Managed projects or Company Managed projects?

What steps are you executing when you you "create the copy"?

Note that there are Projects which are containers for issues, versus Boards which are a way to visualize and manipulate the issues in Projects. If you are copying a Board that is different than setting up a new Project.

@Samantha Bernis It might just be the board that is being selected is for the old project or linked to the old project via JQL.

I just made a new project in my cloud instance (full steps) and I:

1. checked the box that says to "Share settings with an existing project"

2. then selected the project I wanted to clone (active project with tickets) along with "Connect repositories, documents, and more".

I did not have any tickets follow over my setup; however, if I create a "Board from an existing project" it shows me all the issues that are associated with the project but hasn't "cloned" the project.

In alignment with @Trudy Claspill, would you be able to post the steps you are performing to create the problem?

As a separate note, I have always made a separate project to act as a template (aka test bed) that has been blank from issues with only me on the project, it has helped me avoid "changes" occurring without my knowledge in the past. Not sure if that additional thought helps or complicates things for you or you might already have done.
