Create custom reports possible?

Hello,

Is it possible to create custom reports for the out of the box Jira? I can only see deafult reports which we can't use. I know there are paid apps which we dont want to use.

I noticed that there dashboard gadgets available but its not what we need and quite limited.

I'm wanting to report on

  • who is assigned to what issue
  • how long it took each issue to be completed
  • the number of issues per user
  • what date each issue was closed

I can use a kanban for some of these, or a gadget but would like it all in one place if possible or if its not possible at all.

Thank you

You could put those all in one place by creating a Jira Dashboard and adding gadgets to it.

But no, there is not otherwise a built in solution for creating custom report in Jira.

The first and fourth items on your list can be done using a Saved Filter and the Filter Results gadget.

The third item can also be done again using a Save Filter and the Two Dimensional Filter Statistics gadget.

There is not a built in field for how long it took an issue to get "completed" but you could create a custom field and use an Automation Rule to calculate the value, and then again use a Saved Filter and the Filter Results gadget.

Hello @Hoc

If you're OK with third-party add-ons, you can try Time in Status for Jira Cloud. It generates 7 types of reports, including Time in Status, Assignee time, Status Entrance Date reports.

Time in Status (shows how long each issue has spent in each status) and Assignee time (shows how long it takes each assignee to solve the issue) reports. They include a Total column which shows the Issue Age (how long it took each issue to be completed).

A Status Entrance Date report shows the date when the issue has entered each of statuses. So you can easily track when the issue moves to the next workflow status.

This add-on is developed by my SaaSJet team. Please, let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @Hoc

As an alternative, you can try Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It mainly provides reports and gadgets based on how much time passed in each status.

Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app.

  • This app has a dynamic status grouping feature so that you can generate various valuable reports as time in status, time in assignee, status entry dates and status counts, cycle time and lead time, average/sum reports by any field(e.g. average in progress time by project, average cycle time by issue creation month).
  • You can search issues by Project, Issue Type, Status, Assignee, Issue Creation/Resolution Date(and any other Date field) and JQL Query.
  • Status durations are calculated according to the working calendar you define. Once you enter your working calendar into the app, it takes your working schedule into account too. That is, "In Progress" time of an issue opened on Friday at 5 PM and closed on Monday at 9 AM, will be a few hours rather than 3 days.
  • You can set different duration formats.
  • You can export reports in CSV file format and open them in MS Excel.
  • You can also add this app as a gadget to your Jira dashboards and reach “Status Time” from Issue Detail page.
  • You can enable/disable access to Status Time reports&gadgets and Issue Detail page per project, users, groups or project role.

If you are looking for a free solution, you can try the limited version Status Time Free.

Note: If you are interested in cycle and lead time, you can have a look at the article below.

Hope it helps.

@Hoc

Be advised that Time Spent is not the amount of time between when the issue was created and when it was completed. Time Spent is the some of Logged Work for the issue.
