Hi there,
We plan to archive our current JIRA and Confluence instances and purchase/set up Cloud instances for both. I know there a big differences between the server product and the cloud -- what are some good trainings/tutorials to help us get started?
Thanks for the quick response Ravi! Sorry if i wasn't clear, we're not technically migrating the data from the server to the cloud. We will be archiving our current Jira server instance and starting from scratch. I think what we're most worried about is, setting up the new workflows, projects, add-ons/plugins and just all the other settings, we only have one chance to set it up and we want to do it right! I just found the product demo for Jira Software Cloud, which should be helpful. But if you have a recommendation for an indepth online training for setting up the JIRA cloud that would be awesome!
Hi @Coco Gregg
Well if you have already been using Jira and Confluence for a while then you will not find it difficult to move to Cloud. As you mentioned that you are aware of differences, I would ask how are you currently using these tools in the company? and what exactly are you planning to achieve on Cloud? There are pros and cons of moving to cloud. Cloud will take away a lot of maintenance aspects of the infrastructure and the application, but you will probably miss the some add-ons or extreme customisations of the server. It depends how you are using these tools and for how long.
Feature wise there are differences on the cloud like next-gen projects and it is quite popular. The customisation and Jira Admin aspects around various configurations and schemes are still there on cloud instance though but the cloud interface is totally different from server.
If you migrate to cloud, you might (most likely) loose some data/configuration, especially from add-ons.
I would recommend just evaluate cloud instance for a while and see if it checks all your points.
