Creating a project role

I wanted to see whether it was possible to create a new project role, where we are able to limit a users ability to only view issues that are assigned to them. The reason for this is that we are working with a 3rd party, and would like to manage issues between us on the same JIRA board/ instance to save double handling of tickets. 

Usually we could give them access as an external user and limit there access to the projects that we want to expose them to, but there are a number of issues within our projects that are confidential, so can we further reduce exposure by creating a role that allows a 3rd party  user to view, comment and transition issues assigned to them

I have found this article on how to create project roles - Manage project roles | Atlassian Support but this seems to be to give users access to specified projects as a whole not to reduce what they can view within that said project

Hi Jon,

You are probably better off implmenting Issue level security to only let the user see certain issues. Check out how to do that here:
