This page explain the steps unfortunately the interface seems to be different.
The other way in which i have tried to do this is by going to Board settings and then columns and try to find Add Status button on the right however it doesn't appear. Can you help with pointing me to what board needs to be created in order to be able to create a new status?
@Bimpe If you want to build a new workflow for your project or edit the existing workflow, please follow this documentation from Atlassian: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracorecloud/how-do-i-build-the-workflow-i-want-765593066.html
For mapping JIRA workflow statuses to Board columns, please refer to this document: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver/configuring-columns-938845277.html
I am trying to add new status' to my project and create a refinement board that will capture the new status' - something like... "yet to be refined", "refining", "refined"
thanks

@Bimpe I am having similiar questions as yours above. Did you ever got to resolve this issue? Do you care to provide some mentoring on Jira?

@Bimpe What exactly are you trying to achieve? Adding a new status to your project workflow? or Adding new columns to your project board?
What kind of Software project have you created? (Scrum or Kanban)
NOTE: Please note that Board Columns are linked to corresponding Workflow status in your project, so that when issues are moved through the columns in the board, they are actually moving through the corresponding statuses of your workflow.
