How do I export a custom report to excel or cvs of tasks from the filtered view?
I see the option to export issues to csv, but that is limited to all fields. What I would like to to export a tailored csv, excel, google sheets with select data points.
this comes up every now and then, and it appears as if there was a native solution to this; kindly have a look a this thread: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Software-questions/Exporting-only-specific-fields-which-are-needed/qaq-p/1756433
If the suggested solution does not work or is not practical for some reason, there's a number of options available from the Atlassian Marketplace. E.g., my team and I work on an app in which your use case would be trivial to solve: JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also offers a one-click export to XLSX (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets) and CSV that exports exactly the columns that you chose for your JXL sheet, and also is not limited by JXL's export limit of 1000 issues:
I should add that JXL also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), s um-ups, or conditional formatting.
Any questions just let me know,
Best,
Hannes
That forum link you sent me had the answer, but only thing I'm missing is the export currently selected column, but the view in Jira is fine for us for now. If we need better exporting in the future will definitely look at your app as a solution.
For those searching for a solution that come after me.
You need to be in the list view, basic setting then you can use the column button on the far right to choose which columns you see from your custom variables.

Export to a standard XLSX file with the Better Excel Exporter. This fileformat is can be then opened in Excel, Google Sheets and any other spreadsheet tool.
The app supports "All fields", "Visible fields", "Fields with non-empty values" modes and a lot more:
Try it here: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1212652/better-excel-exporter-for-jira?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
(Disl. it is a paid and supported app developed by our team. Free for 10 users.)

@Quinn Campbell Did you ever figure this one out? If not, I wrote this guide on how to connect Google Sheets and Jira with a 2-way flow that can be set up in around 15 minutes with Unito's integration.
The nice thing about integrating those tools is you don't need to import/export CSVs or worry about copy/pasting and human error.
Once a flow is launched, you can automatically populate a sheet with Jira issue data, create new issues in Jira based on your row data, or both simultaneously. Unito also keeps those issues and spreadsheets updated in real-time.
It's not free, but Unito comes with a 14-day free trial. Let me know if you have any questions or need help getting set up!

Hi,
If you like to export to Google Sheets you can try our Google Sheets Integration add-on from the Atlassian Marketplace. It allows you to select which fields and order to export. In addition you can enable real-time or scheduled exports. This is all done from within Jira either starting with a filter or a search.
Kind regards,
The Mobility Team
