Custom Date Field Default to X Days From Today

I have a custom date field, that I would like to default to X days from today.

I found this super old article that says it cannot be done natively, but that was in 2011.

I know I can do this with Automation for Jira, using the logic, when issue created if this field is blank, then set it to be 15 days from today,  but I was curious this logic can be done on the issue create screen?

Hi Jeffrey,

I have seen field values set on the Create screen prior to issue creation, but not with a date field. It was using Scriptrunner Behaviours. The problem is that the value can be modified by the user if the field appears on the Create screen. Preventing users from modifying the field before issue creation dictates placing the field on only the Edit and View screens. This negates the need for Scriptrunner and allows you to use Automation as you described. Cheers!
